ABOUT OAK & FLAME
I’m Stuart Moir, founder of Oak & Flame, based in the heart of rural Aberdeenshire. Every piece begins life as a reclaimed Scottish whisky barrel — rich in history, full of character, and ready for a new chapter.
MEMORIES KINDLED, STORIES SHARED.
FAMILY OWNED & OPERATED
Oak & Flame began during the Covid lockdowns, when I started making gifts for family and friends. What began as a bit of fun — sparked by a crazy idea from my sister, who loves all things Viking — quickly grew into something much bigger. Over time, the workshop became a space where craftsmanship met family life: a place that allowed me to work with my hands, build something meaningful, and still be close to my kids.
For the past three years, I’ve been dedicated to perfecting our signature whisky barrel fire pit — refining every detail from design to finish. The result is a piece I’m proud to put my name to: handcrafted, sustainable, and fully UKCA certified for safety and quality.
When I’m not in the workshop, life revolves around my two kids and our furry apprentice, Tali, our Bernese Mountain Dog — who, truth be told, helped pick the colour palette for Oak & Flame. With a family that keeps me grounded and a workshop that keeps me inspired, this business is as personal as it gets.
Every Oak & Flame creation is made by hand, built to last, and designed to be lived with — whether it’s a fire pit to gather around or a statement piece for your home. Each one carries a story of heritage, sustainability, and a simple truth: good things are worth making well.
MADE FOR TIME TOGETHER
With your loved ones gathered around you, there’s nothing more important than safety. Oak & Flame’s flagship fire pit, The Highlander, is UKCA-certified and rigorously tested to ensure it meets high quality, safety and environmental standards
From tempered glass guards to precision fittings, every detail is built to last — not just beautiful, but trustworthy, dependable and to be enjoyed for years to come.
